Jordan William Bradfield went with God on Saturday, March 20, just four short days after his 17th year. His life, though tragically short, was filled with hope and promise. The hope of a teenager looking forward to all that life has to offer. He wanted it all and went after it with the single-minded determination that we all recall from our youth. The promise, now never to be realized, yet real enough to hold onto, will keep its place in the hearts of those who knew him.
Jordan was a fierce competitor from his early years in Karate through his Churchill High School wrestling days, receiving his varsity letter as a sophomore. That competitive nature contributed to his death as he took a gamble and ultimately could not beat the odds. What parent has not heard their child retort, "I'm not stupid", when trying to offer the advice of experience garnered over the years that would smooth the transition from childhood to adulthood? We've all been there. We weren't stupid either; we just did stupid things occasionally. Learning and growing was the result, not loss of life. Death is too high a price to pay for that kind of boundary testing.
Jordan is survived by his mother, Cheri Webb, and father, Jay Bradfield; stepparents, Suzi Bradfield, and Alan Webb; sisters Michelle and Kayla Bradfield; grandparents Joyce and Boyd Bradfield, Pat and Richard Gerlach, Alice and David Dull, Betty and Lewis Webb; great grandmothers, Avalie Gerlach and Kathy Hock; aunts and uncles, Kristy Bradfield Petlin and Alan Petlin, Rick and Michele Gerlach, Kurt and Vienna Gerlach, Jason, Mick, Jim and Jenny Dull, Robin, Kenn and Beth Webb; and cousins Kelly and Ali Petlin, and Andy, Ian, and Sarah Gerlach. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Jordan William Bradfield Scholarship Fund, c/o Bradfield Properties, or to one's charity of choice.
