Jorge Pedro MARLES

Jorge Pedro Marles was born September 11, 1946 in Caracas, Venezuela, to Teresa Llorens Jordana and Jose Marlés Ferré, immigrants from Cataluña, Spain. He attended elementary school in Venezuela and Barcelona, Spain. A high school graduate of La Salle Catholic School in Caracas, Jorge earned a technology degree in Telecommunications. In 1978, Jorge earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Electronic Engineering from Oklahoma State University. He earned a Master’s in Computers Applied to Industries at the University of Houston at Clear Lake City in 1980. In 1978, Jorge married the love of his life, Amparo. Together they raised three children, Jorge Jose, Carlos Jose and Monica Teresa. An international family, they lived in Venezuela, Chile and United States. Jorge was employed by the electricity company in Venezuela and became a manager, supervising field projects. Subsequently, Jorge served as vice president of telecommunications for the national and international airline, Avensa. He held a myriad of jobs that helped fulfill his desire to serve others. Jorge was a founding member of the first search and rescue group of Venezuela over 50 years ago and was active for about 30 years. A lifelong, Roman Catholic, Jorge was a faithful and active member of the parish wherever he lived. Jorge and Amparo developed a premarital preparation course in Venezuela that is still being used there. They were involved in the Cursillo Movement and were Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion during Mass and for the homebound, long-term care facilities and the sick. Jorge was an active member of the Charismatic group in his parish. He was a member of St. John Neumann Catholic Church in San Antonio. Jorge is survived by his wife of over 42 years, Amparo, his son Carlos, daughter Monica Teresa, and four grandchildren, Skylar, Arianno, Georgiana and Amberly. He is also survived by two sisters, Maria Teresa and Josefina, two nieces, four nephews, his mother-in-law Clementina, sister-in-law Martha, brother-in-law Gilberto, other family members and a multitude of friends worldwide. Jorge was preceded in death by his parents, his son Jorge Jose and his sister Rosa Maria. Jorge was a fine and godly man who is greatly missed already by all who knew him. His funeral Mass will take place on January 25, 2021 at St. John Neumann Catholic Church. Rosary will be prayed at 11 am, funeral Mass will be at 11:30 am. If possible, please wear colors or at least a detail with colors or sparkling. He wanted people to be joyful for his life and his trip to be with the Lord.
