Jose Antonio Collazo Barreto, age 79, of Carolina, PR, passed away on July 5, 2026, in San Antonio, TX. He was born on July 3, 1947, in Carolina, PR, to parents Jose Luis Collazo and Rosa Lydia Barreto. Jose proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam conflict. Throughout his life, he was a dedicated Professor of Psychology, Husband, Father, Grandfather, Veteran, Mentor, Therapist, and Conguero.
Jose was preceded in death by his father, Jose Luis Collazo, and his mother, Rosa Lydia Barreto. He is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Itza B. Muñoz Candanedo; his children, Dax A. Collazo and Ian R. Collazo; his children-in-love, Karen Rodriguez and Carlos J. Olivo; his grandchildren; Rafael A. Collazo-Rodriguez, Ethan L. Collazo-Rodriguez, and Aramis N. Collazo-Rodriguez; and his sister; Monserrate Collazo.
