Our deepest and most heartfelt condolences to the Martinez family.
The fall of 1976 seems so long ago, yet it was only yesterday I came to meet Maria Eugenia aka Kena while attending Jr. high. Kena and I quickly became the best of friends, 42 yrs later calling Kena my Sister. Mr. Martinez aka Papi Martinez, always a hard working man, providing for his large family. Papi Martinez always welcomed me into their home on Gould Street and always had the best cut meat for a meal to provide and share with all, including myself.
Gracias Papi Martinez for showing me to speak Spanish in its proper language.
Papi Martinez retired from Centeno SuperMarket from the meat market and then working for HEB as a bagger. Papi Martinez was always energetic and so proud of his children's accomplishments.
Thank you Kena, Lee and children for caring for Papi Martinez.
Love you always, Janet
