

Jose "Joe" Ramirez was born on January 25th, 1953, to Jose Ramirez and Minerva Juarez in Corpus Christi, Texas. He passed away in San Antonio, Texas on September 28th, 2021. Joe moved to San Antonio in his young childhood years. He was a graduate of the University of Texas at San Antonio and was very proud to have served in the US Navy and retired from the US Army Reserves for the United States. He also retired from the San Antonio State Hospital where he met his beloved wife Maria Lourdes Rodriguez, to whom he was married for 41 years. Together, they owned a family business, The Last Straw Florist, for 40 years and counting. Joe was also a proud member of the Knights of Columbus, The Sons of the Republic, and "El Consejo de Reyes Anteriores."
Joe was truly a pillar to his community as a person who dedicated his time and contributions to countless organizations. Outside of work, Joe loved to spend his time listening to music and playing his guitar. Traveling and dancing with his wife was something they both found joy in. He and his wife truly created a place of comfort, joy, and love within their home. The family holiday traditions, birthdays, and Sunday brunches at their home will never be forgotten. His family was and will always be the most important thing in his life. Recently, he found a hobby of bird watching and working in his yard.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jose G. Ramirez.
Joe is survived by his wife, Maria L. Ramirez; his children Servando Prado and wife Donna, Diana Prado, Lourdes Monita and husband George, and Daniel Prado; grandchildren Albert Charles, Gabriel Prado, Lourdes Villalpando, James Ibarra, Jonathan Ibarra, Victoria Lyons, Felicia Flores, Christopher Kiernan, Logan Kiernan, Payton Kiernan, Madison Kiernan, Austin Monita, Justin Monita, Jessica Porter, Julia Prado, and Jenna Prado; his mother, Minerva Ramirez; sisters Minerva Garcia, Rosa A. Salinas, Maggie Nigro, Beatriz Martinez, and Sara Ramirez; brothers Robert D. Ramirez, Rick A. Ramirez, and Victor T. Ramirez, along with numerous nieces and nephews. T
There will be a Celebration of Life on October 19th, 2021, from 10:00 am-12:00 pm at Hope Center Church, followed by interment with Military Honors at Ft Sam, Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, TX at 1:15p pm.
