

Jose “Joe” C. Ramirez went to be with our Lord on Wednesday, October 8, 2014, after battling Parkinson’s disease for many years. He was born April 13, 1931, to Dorothea and Santiago Ramirez. At the age of 17, he joined the Army and served his country in the Korean War and Vietnam War. Jose was an extremely strong and courageous man who worked hard to rise above difficulties and achieve his dreams.
Survivors include his former wife of 25 years, Emma Ramirez; his son, Joe “Joey” Ramirez, and his 3 daughters, Jessica Ramirez, Melissa Patterson, and Dorathy Lea Ramirez; 2 granddaughters, April Hernandez and Meagan Hernandez; his sister Esperanza Garcia; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Tito Ramirez, his sister, Consuelo Barrientes, and his brother Santiago, Jr.
Visitation will take place at Sunset Funeral Home Wednesday, October 15, 2014 from 5:30 pm to 9:00pm with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00pm. A Funeral Mass will take place Thursday, October 16, 2014 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Selma, Texas. A Committal service will follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
