Jose Santos Soto, affectionately known as Jose to all who had the pleasure of crossing paths with him, danced his way into the heavens on April 19, 2024, at the age of 79. Born on November 1, 1944, in the vibrant town of Durango, Mexico, Jose lived a life that was as colorful and spirited as his birthplace. He took his final bow in San Antonio, Texas, leaving behind a legacy of laughter, rhythm, and an undying zest for life.
Jose's journey was not just a walk; it was a salsa, a cha-cha, and a cumbia through the years. His love for dancing was infectious, and he often joked that he had two left feet, not because he couldn't dance, but because he was always ready to jump in with both feet! As he'd chuckle and say, "I intend to live to 100.”
The patriarch of a family that inherited his humor and passion for life, Jose is survived by his son Robert, and daughters Roselle and Anna. Each of them carry a spark of his vivacious personality.
Jose's approach to life was simple: find joy in every moment and share it with everyone. He never faced a day without a smile, and even as he bravely battled cancer, he did so with a joke on his lips and a twinkle in his eye. His laughter was a melody that echoed through the lives of all who knew him, and it continues to resonate even in his absence.
As we bid farewell to a man who was a father, a dancer, and a comedian rolled into one, we remember Jose not with sadness, but with the joy he so generously spread. He left the world just as he lived in it—on his own terms, with a dance step so unique that only he could have choreographed it.
So, let's not say goodbye to Jose Let's say, "See you later," because as the man himself would jest, "You can't dance in a somber mood” And in that spirit, let's celebrate the life and laughter he shared with us all. Jose, the dance floor of our hearts will always have your footprints.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, Wednesday, May 1, 2024, at Porter Loring Mortuary.
