Jose Garcia Velazquez

Jose Garcia Velazquez, 83, of San Antonio, TX, passed away peacefully on August 8, 2024, surrounded by his children. A beloved figure of San Antonio’s West side, he lived a life of service, kindness, and passion.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Maria Melendes Velazquez, his parents Juan and Maria Velazquez, and siblings Jesus, Juaquina, and Guadalupe.

He is survived by his children Jose (Angela), Teresa, Xavier (Veronica), Salvador (Shannon), and Fernando; sibling Maria; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

Jose served the West side and San Antonio for almost 50 years, running Joe’s Aluminum Shop on Guadalupe Street. He was known for his colorful stories, jokes, and devotion to the Virgen De San Juan and the Catholic Church. He loved his family deeply and will be missed by many.

Viewing will be on August 20, 2024, at 5:00 P.M. at Trevino Funeral Home, followed by a Rosary at 7:00 P.M. The funeral procession will depart Trevino Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 21, 2024 for a funeral mass at 10:00 A.M. at San Fernando Cathedral, Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park.
