Josefa L. Sanchez

Josefa was full of life and lived it to the fullest. She continued to travel and drive her little red truck until the age of 92. A strong, independent, and free-spirited woman, Josefa unselfishly loved and supported her children and grandchildren. Affectionately called “Grandma Pepe,” Josefa made it her life’s work to assist her children by serving her grandchildren. She was always cheerfully available to serve as a babysitter, school chauffer, gourmet chef, and a devoted adviser. Whenever anyone entered Grandma Pepe’s house, they were greeted with the aroma of her cooking and her warm-hearted laugh. In her spare time, Josefa loved to work in her yard gardening.

Josefa was preceded in death by her husband, Luis Sanchez, son, Luis Sanchez Jr, and siblings, Henry Lerma, Lupe Sanchez, Mike Lerma, Platon Lerma, and Vicenta Gonzalez.

She is survived by her daughters, Anna Radke, Sarah Fletcher, and husband Joseph, Irma Mireles, and husband Ruben and Elizabeth Peel. 14 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, February 8, 2022, at St. Dominic Catholic Church, 5919 Ingram Road, San Antonio, Texas 78228 beginning at 9:30 A.M with a rosary to follow at 10:00 A.M, and then a funeral mass at 10:30 A.M. Interment will be at San Fernando Cemetery #2
