Josefina Aragon Lopez

Josefina was born on February 17, 1932, in the state of Guanajuato, Mexico, to Josefa Lopez Guido and Efren Aragon.

She spent the early years of her life in Guanajuato before her family moved to Nuevo Laredo in search of new opportunities. Josefina married Guillermo Rok, with whom she had her children. Sadly, Guillermo passed away while their children were still very young. Josefina never married again.

As her children grew older, Josefina made another courageous move, relocating to San Antonio, Texas, in 1978 to build a new life for herself and her family.

Later in life, Josefina found a devoted and loving companion in Teodulo Moreno. They shared more than 40 years together. His love and devotion to her never wavered. He cared for her faithfully throughout the years and remained by her bedside until her very last breath.

Josefina was a hardworking and dependable woman who took great pride in her work. She worked at El Jarro de Arturo for more than 20 years, where she developed many wonderful and lasting friendships. Rain or shine, Josefina could be counted on to be there. Her dedication and strong work ethic were simply part of who she was.

But above all else, Josefina loved her family.

To her grandchildren, she was the grandmother who always wanted to spoil them and make sure no one ever left her home hungry. No matter when you arrived, she was ready to offer you something to eat. Her kitchen was a place of love, comfort, laughter, and countless family memories.

She was the undisputed queen of flour tortillas. To her family, no one in the world could make tortillas quite like Grandma. Her famous “carnita,” as her grandchildren lovingly called one of their favorite dishes, will forever bring back memories of sitting at her table and being cared for by her.

Josefina was also, as her family lovingly called her, a professional shopaholic a trait she proudly passed down to many of her grandchildren. There was not a sale she wanted to miss. She loved to shop simply for the joy of shopping and was always buying something “just in case” someone in the family might like it or want to take it home.

Her closet became almost as much of a family gathering place as her kitchen. Her oldest daughter, Teresa, especially knew this well. Teresa rarely left Grandma’s house without first making a stop by her closet to see what treasures she might find. Grandma always seemed to have something waiting for someone, whether they knew they needed it or not.

It was one of the many ways Josefina showed her generosity. She found happiness in giving, feeding, and spoiling the people she loved. Whether it was a plate of food, a fresh flour tortilla, or something she had found while shopping because she thought someone might like it, Grandma was always thinking about her family.

Josefina also loved to dance, enjoyed being around people, and had a lively spirit that brought joy to those around her. Her Sundays often included attending church at San Fernando Cathedral in downtown San Antonio, an important part of the life and traditions she cherished.

Josefina is preceded in death by her parents, Josefa Lopez Guido and Efren Aragon; her husband, Guillermo Rok; her daughter, Teresa Rok; her son, Guillermo Rock Aragon; her son-in-law, Bill Long; her grandsons, Christian Alexander and Joey; and her siblings Guillermina, Alicia, Efrén, Jesús, and Carmen Aragon.

After so many painful goodbyes throughout her long life, there is comfort in knowing that Josefina is now reunited with those she loved and lost, and that they are finally resting together in eternal grace.

Josefina is survived by her loving partner of more than 40 years, Teodulo Moreno; her children, Rebeca Long and Adriana Martinez; her siblings, Carlos Aragon, Irma Almanza, and Aurora Almanza; her son-in-law, Jesse Martinez; and her beloved grandchildren, Mario, Cynthia, Carlos, Karina, David, Oliver, Monica, Kristie, Kathie, Jesse, Memito, Edgar, Jonatan, and Luis Angel Rock.

She also leaves behind her great-grandchildren, Nathan, Sarah, Miranda, Kaitlyn, Christopher, Noah, Madison, and Liam, Dulce, Xóchitl, Emma, Wynette, along with extended family and many friends whose lives were touched by her love, generosity, strength, and unforgettable spirit.

Josefina lived 94 years filled with hard work, sacrifice, family, faith, dancing, friendship, good food, shopping, and, most importantly, love. She leaves behind generations of family who will carry her memory with them.

We will greatly miss our lively grandmother her cooking, her tortillas, her laughter, her strength, her shopping adventures, the treasures hidden in her closet, and simply knowing that Grandma was there.

Although saying goodbye is painful, we find peace in our faith and in knowing that this is not goodbye forever. We know that one day we will all see her again.

Funeral and burial services for Josefina Aragon Lopez will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at Sunset Memorial Park in San Antonio, Texas.

Josefina will be laid to rest surrounded by the family who loved her so dearly.

The family of Josefina Aragon Lopez wishes to extend our sincere gratitude to everyone who cared for her, prayed for her, visited her, and supported our family during her final days.

Her life was long, her family was large, and the love she leaves behind is immeasurable.
