

Joseph Patrick "Joe" Best, born December 21, 1963 in Laredo, TX, was called to our Lord on Monday, November 11, 2002. He was a graduate of McAllen High School and Sam Houston State University where he was honored as Most Valuable Player on the tennis team during his senior year. Joe was a teaching tennis professional at San Antonio Country Club for seven years. Currently, he was working as a bilingual teacher at Comal Elementary School. Raised in Laredo, TX, Joe excelled in junior tennis qualifying for the Texas Junior Davis Cup Team and competed at National tournaments. Active at Cornerstone Church since 1991, Joe served for years as a facilitator with the Savior Group and sang in the choir. Joe was a loving, dutiful and awesome parent along with Laura, to their three children; Joseph Patrick, Jr., Jeremy Daniel and Rachel Elizabeth. Joe is also survived by his parents, Herb and Gloria Best; his brothers, Raymond Best, DDS and wife Sharon, and Herb Best, Jr., and wife Teresa, all from McAllen, TX; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Joe's irrepressible spirit will stay with us always. Joe's message for life was, "Try God," and the verse he lived by was, "I can do all things through Christ Jesus, who strengthens me." Philippians 4:13.
