I was so sorry to hear of Joe's passing. Word is still spreading around the far reaches of railroad community that he is gone. He was a great friend to so many of us. He will be greatly missed by his fellow railroaders.

I was so sorry to hear of Joe's sudden passing. I will miss him, but will always fondly remember our visits and good times over the years. It seems like I could always get Joe to laugh -- sometimes I wouldn't even know why, but it would be something I said or the way I said it that would amuse him. One of the best times I remember was staying with Joe and Diane in about '80 while I was on vacation and ironically I just recently viewed the old 8mm movies I shot at that time FOR THE FIRST TIME when I transferred it to DVD. Please accept my deepest sympathy on your loss. He was a good friend, indeed.

We had the pleasure of knowing Joe only briefly through Cory and Ryan. He always remembered us at every birthday party of Jolie and Brodie's, and obviously enjoyed being a Grandpa. He and his entire family are in our thoughts and prayers.

Joe you will be missed a great deal, I remember when I first met you, we all were going to Padre Island and you treated me like you had known me forever. I remember all the fun we used to have when I came to visit you guys. I'll never forget some of the crazy things that went on, like the time we all rode to Houston to see a Cubs game, the ride was unforgettable. 
All the great moments will be forever in my mind and you will be forever in my heart.

Joe, I loved you so much. You were so devoted to Diane. I loved our talks and your demeanor. You were a good man. You are missed.

We will always cherish the days of our daughters' growth process. Our memory of conversations about juke boxes and antique trains will always be a delightful memory.

Each evening as the sun sets we stand on the porch, wave like crazy, and blow lots of kisses to you as you drive the choo choo train in heaven!

Mr. Covert was a great dad to my friend. At times, I think she may even have considered him a best friend. His example is one I hope to take with me and institute in my children.
