OBITUARY

Joseph Thomas Day

December 7, 1929June 10, 2014

Mr. Joseph Thomas Day Sr. , better known as Joe, 84, was called to leave his temporary home on earth on Tues, June 10, 2014 at the Regent Care Center – Medical where he was giving his best to recover from a hip fracture. He was born in Trenton, New Jersey to the late Thomas Martin Day II and Josephine Heaton Day. Joe was an Airman in the USAF – Keesler Air Force base. He was stationed at the Iceland Air Force base during the Korean War. He was a professional photographer in his younger years, a Manager at a Hotel, Bingo Hall and Flooring Store. He then worked for the Department of Army at Fort Monmouth, NJ as an Equipment Specialist/Electronic/Radar instruction always exceeding his job requirements. He was the Deputy Director at the Signal School at Fort Gordon in Augusta, GA when he retired. He was known as the “Wall Street Tycoon” as he was always involved with the stock market. Joe kept active after retirement by giving of himself to others in so many ways. Joe was a math wiz, avid Chess player, enjoyed shooting pool, photography, working on his computer, loved ice cream and milk shakes all his life. Joe was a devoted Roman Catholic since the day he was born. He last attended church at the Holy Trinity Church in San Antonio off Huebner Rd. He faithfully attended Mass every week of his life unless he was sick which was rare. He was preceded in death by his wife Evelyn Olson Day, son Joseph Thomas Day Jr., his brothers Walter, Thomas, Norman and Henry Day. He is survived by his daughter Jennifer M. Day of San Antonio, his sons' Kevin and Michael P. Day, his only grandson Joel Martin Reznick, and several nieces and nephews. There is no doubt that he loved all of his children and grandson unconditionally. The memories of Joe will never die and be cherished. Bless his soul our Father who art in Heaven. Joseph Thomas Day Sr & Jr will be laid to rest at the Holy Cross Cemetery per his request. Arrangements under the direction of Sunset North Funeral Home, San Antonio, TX.
