In loving memory of Joseph Charles García, a devoted Husband, Father, Grandfather, Son, Brother, and cherished family man. Born on September 7, 1967, he left an indelible mark with his strong presence and unwavering commitment to those he loved, especially family and friends. Joseph found his way home in the early morning hours of Sunday, March 10, 2024.
He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Charles and Jenny García; and maternal grandparents, Joseph and Beverly Sequenzia. Joe is survived by his loving wife, Debra; sons, Frank Thomas and Derek Joseph; parents, Joseph García and Karen Adam; siblings, Cindy Ridge, Tavey García, and Jeremy García; Grand-daughter, Ryleigh; Nine nieces and nephews; and six great nieces and nephews.
Joseph, who served in the U.S. Army, comes from a long line of family members who have served. Grandfathers, Joseph Sequenzia (U.S. Army, WWII) and Charles García (U.S. Army/National Guard, WWII); Father, Joseph García (U.S. Navy, Vietnam); Uncles, Charles García (Army - Vietnam), Albert García (U.S. Army, Vietnam), Alvin García (U.S. Navy, Vietnam), and Jerry García (U.S. Marine Corp, Vietnam - KIA); His sons, Frank and Derek García, have carried on the legacy to the current generation as members of the U.S. Coast Guard.
Following his service in the Army, Joe continued to demonstrate his loyalty of service by maintaining employment with AT&T for over 23 years.
Joseph found joy in camping, hunting, 4-wheeling, fishing, and sharing football moments with his sons. As the family patriarch, he extended support not only to his children, but also to his nieces and nephews, offering advice that only he could give. He had an awesome sense of humor, a genuine smile, an imposing stature, and heart to match.
His loyalty and sense of duty extended beyond his immediate family to lifelong friends like Rene, Alvaro, Todd, Albert, Arnold, and more, forming bonds that transcended friendship and felt more like family.
His life's ambition was to build a gathering place for family. Committing both time and resources, he enlisted the assistance of willing individuals to turn this vision into reality. This week, his dream came to fruition as we have all come together to celebrate Joe. Those fortunate to know him unanimously used descriptors like honor, duty, love, respect, and generosity. Joe fulfilled all his roles with the utmost dignity, establishing himself as someone on whom everyone could depend.
Debra, his loving wife of 34 years, helped Joe achieve his dreams. His family is eternally grateful to Deb for being his partner, for loving him, and giving him the best possible life. Together they built a home, a family, faced life’s challenges and celebrated life’s victories.
May his legacy of love, strength, and selflessness continue to inspire those who were touched by his presence. Joe, may you rest in peace knowing you are loved - we will miss you every day.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 16, 2024, at Porter Loring Mortuary North.
