Lt. Col. Joseph D. Godsey, Sr., age 90, of San Antonio, died Thursday, February 15, 2007. He was married on August 25, 1940. Lt. Col Godsey was in the 14th Air Force Flying Tigers during World War II and retired from the Air Force after 28 years of service in 1964.
He graduated from Texas A&M in 1947 and earned a Masters Degree in Education from the University of Cincinnati where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa in 1959. He was a director of Post Secondary Education at the Texas Education Agency from 1965-1975 and was National Chairman of Photography of the Men's Garden Club of America for 8 years.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, John T. Godsey, Jr., George E. Godsey and James L. Godsey. Survivors: wife, Ann Powers Godsey; sons, Joseph D. Godsey, Jr., Rochester, NY, and Ernest E. Godsey, Austin, TX; daughter, Betty Reynolds, Austin, TX; sister, Dolores LaFan, Bowie, TX; sisters-in-law, Mrs. John T. Godsey, Jr., and Mrs. James L. Godsey; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
