I miss Uncle Joey I miss his deep voice his laughter his deep concern for my father I also wish hes with my father Vincent and his sister Jessie and everyone is with each other again having a great time xo.

There are no words I can write to describe the love that we hold for you. Over all the years, since I was a tween you always captured my heart. We lost touch for many years but when we got back in touch is was like those years were never lost. You were always such a special, giving man and such a wonderful friend. A true Uncle to the end even though we were not blood related. John hadnt know you all the years I did but loved you the minute he met you. For me Uncle Joey you will ALWAYS be in my heart and soul. I love you more than words can say and will miss you everyday till I see you again someday. You were always there for me and especially when my Mother was sick. You were there for her then also! I will carry you close to my heart forever. I keep a picture of you and my Mom right in front of me everyday on my kitchen counter so I can see you both. You are the second major loss in my life in the past 6 months having just lost my Dad, I pray that what they say about everyone meeting after death is true, because if it is, I know you & Dad are together as I speak, making each other laugh & enjoying each other as you always did, both healthly once again.

Dear Dad, My heart hurts knowing we will not hear your voice or feel your arms wrapped around us...but knowing that you are not suffering anymore will make not having you here in the flesh easier. You are the most amazing man who was in my life ever. I didn't realize how many lives you touched over the years. Hearing all the special things people said at your funeral made it easier to bear. Dear Mazzella Family, I am sorry to hear of your loss. I remember Joe as a great friend of the family when I was growing up. He was always so funny; he once gave me a gift then handed me $3 and said here, I'd rather give you this cash instead of wasting it on a card! Uncle Joey - I will miss your smile, your laugh, your kind words and your Texan accent. You were always so thoughtful and upbeat - a good person with a good heart. In life we tend to get so busy and time passes so quickly, and then it is at times like this that we realize how we wish we had just one more conversation, phone call. Joe was a dear friend. I knew Joe through my father who thought of Joe 
as a dear friend like a brother. I have dear memories of Joe at his Deer 
Camp cooking great meals and always having a smile on his face. I have a number of photo's of Joe and my father at his deer camp in a photo album that I will cherish for ever.

We met " Joe, Mr. Mazzella, Papa " a few years back. He spread love and friendship everywhere he went. He was an inspiration to us. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family at this difficult time.

Dearest Joe: Met you in 1980 when you came to be interviewed for US Postal Service job, and we were great friends for many years after that. Though life subsequently took us in different directions, we all remember you as a wonderful person, loving son, father, grandfather and friend. I'll miss my friend Joe. How well I remember that hunting trip north of Uvalde. I shot a turkey and made the mistake of letting Joe do the cooking. He put cans and cans of tomato sauce in the stew. Joe was a close friend of my father, Richard Avena. I remember him coming over to the house with his daughter Andrea. He was a kind and loving friend and father. I have great memories of Joe. He was part of my life for so long and meant so much to me and my family. We enjoyed his zest for life and fun. I was lucky to have him in my life, as were many others. He cared dearly for his family and was always there for friends.

We only met "Uncle Joey" once but his warmth touched us so deeply that he became our Uncle Joey. It was a privilege and a blessing to have known him. Thank you to Uncle Joey's family for sharing him with us. To know him, however briefly, was to instantly love him.
