

1Sgt. Joseph Erick Stadler, USA (Ret.) age 80, passed away on Monday, September 24, 2012 in San Antonio. He was born May 25, 1932 in Osterhofen, Germany to Josef and Teresia Stadler. Joseph immigrated to America in 1956 and proudly served in the Army for the next 28 years. Joseph met the love of his life in his native Germany and she returned with him to the states. After his military retirement he enjoyed gardening, cooking, going to the coast, sports and spending many, many beloved hours watching his grandchildren's sporting activities. He was loved as a husband, father, grandfather and brother and will be greatly missed. Joseph is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Irene Stadler; daughter, Sylvia Noble and her husband, Lance; daughter, Myriam McDonough and her husband, Jim; 3 grandchildren, James, Matthew and Sarah; 2 brothers, Louie Stadler, Al Birkeneder, ; and sister, Elfriede Schneider. The family will receive friends from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Thursday, October 4, 2012 at Porter Loring North.
