

He was born April 15, 1932, in Union County, Arkansas, to the late John Lee and Hettie Mae Rowell.
Joe was a graduate of Henderson State Teachers College, where he was president of his fraternity.
He proudly served in the US Army and retired in 1980 achieving the rank of Colonel.
After retirement he, along with his family, owned and managed the Broadway Flower Shop and its branches for many years where he was affectionately known as "Broadway Joe."
Joe loved travel and spending time with his family and friends. He especially liked to spoil and tease his grandchildren while telling his children he was making memories for them.
His candid sense of humor and strong personality will be missed by all that knew and loved him.
Joe is survived by his high school sweetheart and beloved wife of 56 years, Marjorie Houser Rowell; children, Susan Stephens and husband, Randy, Barbara Parris and husband, Frank, Art Rowell and wife, Ann; grandchildren, Melissa Watts and husband, Bob, Joey Parris and fiance, Lisa Seals, Jantzen Rowell, Travis Stephens, Elizabeth Rowell, Joe Rowell and Caitlin Stephens; great-granddaughter, Lauren Parris; sisters, Geraldine Burns and husband, Travis, Betty Faye Smith and husband, Charley; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and close friends.
