Josephine Lucille Downum, 79, born November 18, 1921 in Hochheim, Texas, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 17, 2001 in her home with loved ones by her side. She spent most of her childhood in Hondo. Attending BIOLA University for 2 years in Los Angeles, California, she then moved to San Antonio where she married Rev. Leroy Downum in 1949. She offered quiet, loving support to him in many Christian ministry opportunities, including pastorates, interim supply work, and his chaplaincy at the State Chest Hospital in San Antonio. Leroy preceded her in death on December 10, 1992. She is survived by her son, Dan Downum and wife, Phyllis, Folsom, CA; daughters, Ruth Triebel and husband, Jeff, Houston, TX, and JoBeth Downum, Burleson, TX; sister, Nita Gring, San Antonio; and brother, Arthur Dawson, Refugio, TX. The family will receive friends Monday from 6:30 P.M. to 8:30 P.M. at Porter Loring.
