Josephine Maltos, age 85, passed away on Monday, March 18, 2024, in San Antonio, Texas. She was born August 20, 1938, in San Antonio, Texas to parents, Julia Briseño and Adam Morales. Josephine is preceded in death by her sisters, Olga and Katherine “Gee-Gee” Morales.
Known to her family and friends as Josie, she attended school in San Antonio from elementary through high school, graduating from Fox Tech. She went on to marry her high school sweetheart, Charles “Carlos” Maltos. She was a devoted military wife. Charles’ service in the Army took their growing family to Germany, California, and different parts of Texas. Josie and Carlos’ marriage stood the test of time, having over 60 years together in partnership.
Josie was an accomplished woman. She was the owner of a thriving small business, a loving caregiver to her family, especially to her mother and sister, and was a dedicated traveler who visited cities all over the world. The highlight of her travels was her 45th anniversary vow renewal in Honolulu, Hawaii with her children, grandchildren, and son-in-laws present.
Josie had a heart for serving others. She greatly influenced the lives of so many, with her love and open arms of hospitality. She loved a good party and decorated her home for every holiday (especially Fiesta!). She found joy in making original décor and signature wreaths gifted to her family and the dearly departed. She doted on her granddaughters by making sure to attend their special events, performances, and always lighting a candle with special prayers for them.
Josie’s light touched many. She was a blessing until the day of her departure and she continues to be so in the hearts of family and friends.
Josephine is survived by her adoring husband, Charles Maltos, her children, Patricia Maltos, Charles Michael Maltos, and Donna Maltos Gabaldon, her granddaughters, Tiffany Maltos and Kaitlyn Gabaldon, and her brother, David Morales.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 3, 2024 at Porter Loring Mortuary. Josie loved flowers. If you would like to honor her life, please send flowers to Porter Loring Mortuary on 1101 McCullough Ave.
