Josephine Rivas

Josephine Rivas, age 89, passed away July 8, 2019 in San Antonio, TX. She was born on February 6, 1930 in Munchen, Germany to Josef & Therese Schmuttermaier. She was a loving Mother, Grossmutti and Friend who will be dearly missed. She was a world traveler, not only as a military wife, but with her family throughout the years. She instilled in family her love for her hometown of Munchen, Germany. A generous person to family, Church and friends, she enjoyed life to the fullest.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Vincent Rivas.

She is survived by her children: Josephine Herro (Garth), Laura Boone (Kenneth), Jim Rivas, Monika Keenan (James); by her grandchildren: Michele Johnson, Theresia Bogar, Christina Bell, Christy Snow, Jason Boone, Dominic Rivas, Aaron Rivas, Giovanni Rivas, James Rivas, Jerome Rivas, Mallory Mangini, Shelby Keenan; by her sister-in-laws Mary Dee Zuniga, Ernestine Rivas and Eva Rivas and brother-in-law Santiago Martinez; and by numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

The Visitation will begin at 6 p.m., Wednesday, July 17, 2019 at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel followed by a 7 p.m. Rosary. The Funeral Mass will be 12:30 p.m., Thursday, July 18, 2019 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 4411 Moana, San Antonio, TX 78218. Interment will follow at the Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery.
