Josue Felipe “Josh” Garza, 41, went to be with the Lord on March 13, 2026. Born on December 21, 1984, Josue lived a life marked by love, faith, strength, and an unwavering commitment to those around him.
Josue was a devoted son, brother, and uncle. He is survived by his loving parents, Felipe and Rose Mary Garza of Plano, Texas; his brother, Michael Garza and his girlfriend Meagan Garner of Rockwall, Texas; and his sister and brother-in-law, Forlando and Jessica Johnson of McKinney, Texas, along with their daughter, Amara Johnson, whom he adored deeply. He is also survived by his beloved girlfriend, Brenda Leal, and her son, Diego, who were the center of his world.
He is preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Manuela Serrano of El Paso, Texas, and his paternal grandparents, Daniel and Grace Garza of Kenedy, Texas.
Josh’s life was a testimony of strength and perseverance—he beat cancer at just 19 years old and went on to graduate summa cum laude from St. Mary’s University School of Law, finishing near the top of his class. His determination, resilience, and spirit of excellence carried into his career, where he became a respected and valued member of the legal community.
A man of faith, Josh attended Shoreline City Church and lived a life rooted in his belief in God. His faith guided the way he loved and served others.
Josh loved deeply and showed that love generously. He had a special way of spoiling those closest to him and took great joy in caring for the people he loved. He was a passionate Houston Astros fan and enjoyed attending games and cheering on his team.
He loved his uncles, aunts, and cousins dearly and cherished every moment spent together. Family time meant everything to Josh, and he especially enjoyed family gatherings and celebrations, where his presence brought joy and laughter to those around him.
Josh will be remembered for his kind heart, his strength, his laughter, and the way he made others feel loved and supported. His legacy lives on through his family, his faith, and the countless lives he touched.
Though he is no longer with us, we find comfort in knowing he is in the presence of the Lord, and his memory will forever remain in our hearts.
His parents gave him the life verse:
“For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.”
— Jeremiah 29:11 (NLT)
