Joy Mann, 71, passed away during a brief and unexpected illness. Her sister held her hand as she left us and joined her mother Colleen Roche Ragsdale and her father John Mann. Joy leaves behind many family and friends that will miss her terribly.
Joy attended Robert E Lee High School and went on to study at Southwest Texas State University. She earned a master’s degree from the University of Texas at San Antonio.
Joy had a long career in behavioral health. She worked at Methodist Specialty Hospital in San Antonio and Serenity House in Fredericksburg, Texas. Her final years were with CVS Aetna. She help families and clients navigate mental health and addiction. She would work tirelessly to find scarce resources for her clients to aid in their recovery.
She was a lifelong learner with a full and eclectic library. She was fond of giving her favorite book finds to others as inspiration. She had a tender heart with the spirit of a lioness when she was defending people or a cause. She was a faithful friend. She loved dogs, sunflowers and the color blue. She had a passion for everything flamingo from coffee cups, t-shirts and Christmas decorations. She loved her home that she shared with her beagle Oakley. Always thinking about her best next adventure in retirement.
