Joyce Stewart, age 88, was born in San Antonio, TX on July 30, 1926 to Otto and Lucille Mainz, and passed away on April 5, 2015 in San Antonio, TX. She graduated from St. Gerard’s High School and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from Incarnate Word College. She was an avid gardener, raised beautiful canaries and loved to paint ceramics. Joyce was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Robert Mainz; and sister, Patricia Godfrey. She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Bill Stewart; children, William D. III, Wayne and Steven Stewart, Nancy Eaton and Jennifer Stewart; 5 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and sister, Carolyn Ott. The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 9, 2015 from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., with a rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel. Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, April 10, 2015 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 4411 Moana, 78218. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, Weesatche, TX.
