Juan Carlos Oranday, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family. Born in Nuevo Laredo, Mexico, on October 11, 1947, to Elvira D. Oranday and Carlos M. Oranday, Juan lived a life filled with love, music, service, and unwavering dedication to his family and community.
He is preceded in death by his beloved sisters, Sylvia Gonzalez and Guadalupe Maria Campa. His only surviving sibling is his sister, Yolanda Martinez, who continues to carry forward the strength and warmth of their family bond.
Juan is survived by his loving wife, Amelia C. Oranday, and their daughters: Angelika Maria (Robert), Monika, Jackie (Ray) and Vanessa (Jacob). He was a proud grandfather to 12 wonderful grandchildren and a great-grandfather to 18 cherished great-grandchildren. His legacy lives on through each of them.
Juan was a proud graduate of Lanier High School (1966) and served honorably in the United States Army as a member of the 4th Infantry Division. He was a courageous participant in the Vietnam War, where he answered the call of duty with strength and honor. His service to his country remained a source of pride throughout his life.
After his military service, Juan built a respected career as a journeyman electrician, known for his skill, work ethic, and commitment to excellence.
A gifted musician, Juan was a self taught guitarist who began playing guitar at the age of 14 and never stopped. He was a longtime member of the band TC Review and brought joy to many through his music. He also played in the band Grupo IDEAZ, with whom he recorded his first CD—an accomplishment that brought him great pride and fulfillment. Juan considered all his bandmates his brothers, bound not just by music, but by lifelong friendship and loyalty. His talent served a higher purpose as well—he played faithfully for his church, St. Bonaventure’s, sharing his gift in worship and fellowship.
Juan was also considered the favorite uncle to all his nieces and nephews—known for his sense of humor, generous heart, and unforgettable stories. His presence brought laughter, love, and light to every family gathering.
Juan’s life was one of deep faith, enduring love, and joyful music. He will be profoundly missed and forever remembered.
A visitation for Juan will be held on Wednesday, July 9, 2025 from 5:00 PM - 10:00 PM at Trevino Funeral Home, 2525 Palo Alto Rd, 78211 with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 PM. On Thursday, July 10, 2025 a Mass of Resurrection will be Celebrated at 10:00 AM at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church with interment to follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
