

Juan Urdialez, age 85 of San Antonio entered into eternal rest on March 11, 2026. He was born on May 15, 1940 in San Antonio to Benancio and Josefina Urdialez who preceded him in death, along with his sister Frances, and brothers Nick, Pete, Paul, and Joe.
Juan worked and retired from the Butterkrust Bakery on Broadway after 38 years and was known for his hard work, punctuality and dedication. He enjoyed working with his hands and had a natural talent for figuring out how things worked and rarely met a household problem he could not solve. His favorite morning routine was beginning his day with a cup of coffee and pan dulce, his favorite dish was chile relleno, and fish on Fridays. He loved watching his favorite teams, the Dallas Cowboys and the Spurs, and rarely missed an episode of the Wheel of Fortune. Early in his adult life he was part of a baseball league, enjoyed trips to Rockport to fish, and barbecuing for the family.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Lydia Urdialez.
He is also survived by his children John Urdialez, Sr., Nancy Orozco and husband Rafael, Linda Bailes and husband Scott, and 7 grandchildren Jacob and wife Natasha, John Jr., Larissa and husband Chris, Daniel and wife Raeanna, Brandon and fiancé Sophia, Nathan and wife Cassandra, and Lindsay, as well as 13 great grandchildren.
He further leaves behind his two sisters, Guadalupe Garza and Mary Tolbert, and numerous nephews and nieces.
Visitation and Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, March 25, 2026 at 6pm at Sunset Memorial Park and Funeral Home, 1701 Austin Highway, San Antonio, TX 78218.
Funeral will be held on Thursday, March 26, 2026 at 10am, burial at 11am, followed by a lunch reception at Sunset Memorial Park and Funeral Home, 1701 Austin Highway, San Antonio, TX 78218.
