

Our beloved dad, Juan Valdez, age 95, passed peacefully on June 2, 2026. Juan enlisted in the United States Army at the age of 17 and retired as a PSFC E-7. He bravely served in the Korean War and Vietnam War where he received numerous medals and certificates including Two Purple Heart Medals and The Bronze Star Medal.
Juan was preceded in death by his parents Juanita and Clemente P. Valdez, sisters Mercedes Martinez, Consuelo V. Lopez, Liria Valdez, Maria De La Luz Garcia, brother, Clemente P. Valdez, son Erasmus J. Valdez, daughter Eunice Garza, and beloved companion Rebecca (Becky) Resendez, niece Elaine Sarro, nephew Nicholas Martinez Jr. Juan is survived by his loving daughters, Yvonda Villarreal, Yolanda Garza (Dave), and Lorinda Enriquez (Mary); beloved sister, Maria Elena Munoz; 12 grandchildren; and 16 great grandchildren.
Juan was loved by all who knew him. He was deeply devoted to his family, having raised 4 children on his own. Juan loved traveling with his companion Becky. Their favorite places to go were Las Vegas, Kickapoo, Coushatta. As you can tell he loved to gamble (responsibly). He also loved to play pool and played in many leagues. He won many trophies and was considered a pool shark even in his 80's.
The family will receive guests from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, June 15, 2026, at Porter Loring Mortuary, 1101 McCullough Avenue. A Rosary will follow at 7:00 p.m.
A Mass will take place at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at St. Anthony de Padua Catholic Church, 102 Lorenz Road. Interment will follow in Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Road.
His legacy of faith, patriotism, and devotion to family will continue to inspire everyone fortunate enough to have shared in his remarkable journey through life. He will be missed and remembered.
