With profound sorrow, we announce the passing of Juanita R. Rodriguez, who left this world peacefully on May 22, 2025, at the age of 82. She was born October 20, 1942, in San Antonio, Texas to Isabel Cantu and Antonio Ramos.
Janie was a woman of unwavering resilience and vivid passions, whose green thumb transformed every space she touched. A lifelong gardener, she found joy and peace among her beloved cacti, blossoming flowers, and lush plants. Her garden was more than a collection of greenery - it was a sanctuary of beauty and care, just like her.
In the quiet hours, Janie loved reading and watching the colorful drama of her favorite telenovelas. Sundays in the fall were dedicated to cheering on her Dallas Cowboys with the same enthusiasm and loyalty she showed in all things.
Janie's greatest pride was her family. She is survived by her loving daughters, Cindy Rodriguez, Lisa Rodriguez (wife, Virginia Losoya), and Maxim Rodriguez. She also leaves behind her devoted brothers, Claude Ramos and Maximino Ramos; her cherished BooBoo, Erin LeBlanc; as well as numerous extended family members and friends. Janie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 52 years, Gregorio Rodriguez; daughter, Isabel Rodriguez; and siblings, Benito Ramos, Antonio Ramos Jr., and Josephina Reyes.
Janie’s legacy lives on in every bloom that opens in her garden, every handmade scarf that hugs her loved ones, and every spirited Cowboys cheer. She will be missed dearly, remembered always for her nurturing spirit, selflessness, and deep love.
Janie’s family will receive friends for visitation on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, beginning at 6:00 p.m., at Porter Loring Mortuary, 1101 McCullough Avenue, San Antonio, Texas. A celebration of her life will begin at 7:00 p.m. The following morning, Wednesday, June 4, 2025, a procession will depart Porter Loring Mortuary, at 10:30 a.m. for San Jose Burial Park where Janie will be reunited with her beloved husband, Greg.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you plant something beautiful in her honor.
