Juanita G. Sanchez, born on August 9, 1947 in Brownsville, TX was called to be with The Lord on January 3, 2022 at the age of 74 years. Janie grew up helping her mother every which way she could. Her mother always made sure Janie had a proper education and also prepared her for a good future. Janie lived a short time in Detroit, MI, Tacoma, WA and other cities while growing up. After that Janie's family settled in Brownsville. Janie moved to San Antonio in 1966. Janie was always in a happy mood. She loved her family and always had nothing but prayers for all family and friends.
Janie and Alex, her husband of 51 years, met on Father's Day 1970 and were married four months later on October 11, 1970. She had two children and became a devoted mother and homemaker. In the mid 80's she began her career at NISD where she worked at Glenoaks Elementary as an Elementary Computer Technologist for 23 years. After retirement Janie spent much of her time gardening in her yard, tending to her plants and rose bushes. She had a huge love for nature and the outdoors. Janie and Alex made yearly trips to Big Bend and Lost Maples to enjoy the scenery and venture on hikes. In addition, they traveled across the country to many different states including Alaska, Hawaii, Colorado, New Mexico and the Florida Keys - just to name a few. Janie loved to visit destinations with beautiful sceneries.
Janie was a wonderful wife and mother who did anything to please her family. She would bake cookies for her son, or hand sew an outfit for her daughter in a moment's notice. Janie not only loved her children, but also loved her pets, Curley Sue, Callie and Minnie.
Her favorite holiday was Christmas and found great joy in giving and decorating for the season. She would transform her home into a winter wonderland with four Christmas trees and all the trimmings to match.
Janie is survived by her husband of 51 years, Alejandro C. Sanchez; children, Alejandro Sanchez Jr. and Claudia S. Ortiz and husband, Daniel; mother, Mrs. Angelita A. Gonzalez; siblings, Irma Oliva and Pedro Gonzales Jr.; also, numerous nieces and nephews.
