

Judith James-Sandidge (Judy), age 81, passed away on Sunday, April 30, 2023, in San Antonio, Texas. Judy was born to parents Gordon and Elizabeth James on October 21, 1941, in Waco, Texas. Judy grew up in North Texas – mostly Dallas, Ft. Worth & Seymour. She moved to San Antonio as an adult where she lived for most of her life.
Judy graduated from Highland Park High School and Southern Methodist University in Dallas, TX. In high school and college, she was very involved in both academic and social organizations, always undertaking everything to the fullest. This sense of zest and energy carried with her throughout her life. She devoted her career endeavors to design in a variety of disciplines. Judy also employed these skills through active involvement in her community over the years, which brought her much enjoyment and pride. As a lifelong aficionado and student of the arts, she has passed these gifts along to her children and later to her grandchildren, who lovingly knew her as “Mammía.” Judy maintained strong ties with her family, extended family, and lifelong friends, past and present, whom she took great comfort from throughout her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Phillip James; and sister, Chloe Lindley. Judy is survived by her children, Grant Sandidge (Martha), Drew Sandidge (Elizabeth); grandchildren, Lindley, Reed, Cole, and Harper; nephew, Michael Smith; niece, Shannon Herbert (Khola); and her extended family and friends. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., Friday, May 12, at Porter Loring Mortuary.
