Judith B. Truman

October 21, 1940April 20, 2020

On Monday, April 20, 2020, Judith Truman passed away at age 79. Judith was born on October 21,1940 in Grundy VA to James and Gertrude Bowles. After graduating from Grundy High School in 1958, she moved to Jacksonville, Florida, where she would meet her beloved husband Charles Truman. They wed on December 20,1965, and remained married for 45 years until his death in 2011. Judith worked as a court reporter and a realtor in New Orleans until her retirement in 1994.

She had a passion for New Orleans and its rich history. She also enjoyed reading, gardening, and taking care of her pets, especially her cat Garfy and dog George. Judith was preceded in death by her father James Bowles, mother Gertrude Goff Bowles, and husband Charles Truman.

She is survived by her daughter Lauren Catyb, son-in-law Joseph Catyb, granddaughter Ashley Catyb, sister Sherry Masinter, and uncle Hersel Goff. She also leaves behind many other friends and relatives who will miss her dearly.

Though her passing is sad, there is joy in knowing that she is at peace and is with her beloved husband and parents.

God bless you, Mama.

I was fortunate enough to get to know your mother when she moved to San Antonio to be close to you and your family. It was so nice to have met your mother. She was poised, elegant and stately. I can only imagine how much she enjoyed her life in New Orleans with all the rich history and culture of that beautiful city. She's now well on her journey to the next part of her life; joined again with your dad, blazing her path to where her soul meets her new life.
