Judith Lynn Yates

Judy was born in Cape Girardeau, Missouri to Holly and Lyndale Marchildon on November 9, 1940. She went to school at Chester High School, and later to Southern Illinois University. She married Dr. John Terry Yates on August 27, 1960, in Chester, Illinois. She worked in the Lingerie Department for Joske’s Department Store and later Dillard’s Department Store for 25 years.

She was involved in Choral Society, The Bach Choir, and most recently Musica Sacra Choir. In addition, she and her dear friend Claire travelled extensively in Europe on many singing trips over the years.

Judy is preceded in death by her Father and Mother, Holly & Lyndale Marchildon, her Husband, Dr. John Terry Yates, her Brother, Jerry Marchildon, and her Brother-in-Law, Eddie Usher.

Judy is survived by her Sister, Janet Usher and her children & grandchildren, her Sister-in-Law, Jean Marchildon and her children & grandchildren, her Brother and Sister-in-Law, Richard & Carol Marchildon and their children & grandchildren, her Daughter and Son-in-Law, Lynn and Mike Cottrell, her Son and Daughter-in-Law, Steve and Sharee Yates, her Son and Daughter-in-Law, Christopher & Michelle Yates, her Granddaughter, Zorya-Sainz Yates and her Grandson, Aidan Yates. As well as many other loving relatives and dear friends.

Celebration of Life services will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, at Sunset Memorial Park & Funeral Home with Pastor Joan Ahrens of Windcrest United Methodist Church, retired, officiating. Refreshments to follow right after the service.

Private Family Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park & Funeral Home. Arrangements will be made by Sunset Memorial Park & Funeral Home.

The family of Judy Yates wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the nurses, Leigh on the 4th Floor, and Shannon, & Jessica in the ICU at Methodist Hospital Northeast who were so kind and caring during our Mother’s last days on this earth.
