his parents Ercylee and Conrad Voigt and sister Judy Lemon, who had gone before. He is
survived by his wife, Adah G. Dodson Voigt, son Stephen Voigt, daughter Marcia Voigt,
granddaughter Amanda Espinoza (Diego), granddaughter Alyssa Ree Voigt, sister Betty
Hammett, and brother David Voigt (Barbara), as well as numerous nephews and nieces.
Wayne was born in Weslaco, Texas, November 5, 1935. He graduated from McCollum High
School in Austin, Texas, and then enlisted shortly afterwards in the Army. He served for three
years and spent most of that time in Germany. Upon leaving the Army, he attended the
University of Texas in Austin and for a time sold insurance.
In 1966, Wayne married Adah Gaylon Dodson and God blessed them with 58 years of marriage
and two children, Stephen and Marcia. He joined the US Postal Service in 1968, retiring from
there in 1992 and working several part time jobs before finally retiring completely, devoting
much of his time to his grandchildren and Gay’s parents.
Wayne kept his mind and body active in various ways such as traveling, studying his Bible,
reading about World War II, and playing puzzles and games. However, the legacy Wayne desired
most to leave was as a devoted follower of Christ. Through his diagnosis of, and fight against,
aggressive and advanced cancer, he trusted in Jesus and felt unwavering peace, noting that his
“hope overwhelmed everything.” His hope was always in Christ, and now it is fully realized. His
example as a humble, behind-the-scenes servant leader will be carried on through the eternal
impact he has had on everyone in his sphere of influence.
In Lieu of flowers, the family request a donation in his name to The Christian School at Castle Hills and
The American Cancer Society.
