

Junius R.Wehe died on April 6, 2021 in San Antonio, Texas at the age of 98. He was born August 16, 1922 in Yorktown Texas to Olga Boldt and Max F. Wehe, Jr . He was proceeded in death by his parents, his wife of 71 years Elvera, his daughter Elaine Gaskamp and his sister Maxine Polvado. He is survived by his son Robert (Mark) Wehe and wife Susie of Floresville; grandchildren: Jennifer Dyer and husband Brent of Houston; Melissa Broadway of Allen; Jeffrey Wehe and wife Ingrid of Floresville; Eric Gaskamp and Heather McMahon and husband Ryan of Coleman; as well as six great grandchildren: Alexandra and John Broadway V, Cooper and Chandler Wehe and Sutton and Sage McMahon, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Junius proudly served his country during World War II and was stationed in Guam. After serving his country he returned to San Antonio where he was employed by Kelly Air Force Base as a cabinet maker for 40 years. After retirement Junius continued to make use of his cabinet making skills working on wood projects for family and friends. He also worked at the St John’s Lutheran Church parking lot for 15 years making numerous friends. Junius never met a strange and could carry on a conversation with everyone he met. He was a Life Member of the San Antonio Livestock Show and Rodeo and served as a volunteer on the Horse Show Committee as well as the Hall of Fame Committee. He was committeeman of the year in 1998.
After losing his wife, he moved to Floresville on his son’s ranch and resided there until his death. He loved being in the country watching the operations of the ranch. Although he did not participate in the daily work, he was always there offering a cold drink on a hot day and chatting with hay customers.
Visitation will be from 12-1 pm on Friday, April 16, 2021 at Sunset Memorial Park and Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 1 pm, Friday, April 16, 2021 at Sunset Memorial Chapel with interment to follow at Sunset Funeral Home Mausoleum II.
