Heyyy beautiful people my name is Lillian rios , and I knew and loved mr justin . He was there to calm me down when nobody else could he listin to me all the time he was amazing listener , I bonded with him and Ms mj because there amazing people . They always told me I would make it out be better than all the other kids and bc of mr Justin and ms mj I’m graduating in a month getting a car stating me life . He was there when I thought my life was gonna end but he knew it was just the begging I chose this picture bc drawling has been real hard me lately buh this picture reminds me a lot of when I would promised to be better and to always chose my dreams 💙💙 out of everybody in that place nobody cared as much as mr justin he would talk to us all threw the night bc we didn’t wanna sleep 😂😂and he  would bring us soda and ice cream even tho he knew he would get in trouble he didn’t care bc he knew it would make us smile 💙 I’m so sad he’s gone be he’s not gone just like I’ll see late Mr Justin I’ll meet you up there one day 💙💙 love and blessings to the family 😚

I miss you dearly and so does everyone from LR we always talk about the memories we made with you and i think about you everyday. you made me feel a lot better when i was at a low point and always made us laugh with your funny stories. i'll always remember your baseballs caps you used to wear and the time you used to call me cruella because i had split dye hair . mr justin you left a special place in my heart and i'll always remember and thinking about the special times we had.

I miss you more and more as months go by. Ironically enough, I have a memory for everyday we spent together and continue to make more memories with Druski and all of the kids you and I have helped during the time you were at LRTC. You made 3 promises to me when you were alive. 1) If I ever felt alone in this world, you would always be there for me. I see something that reminds me of you everyday.
2) There will be a ring on my finger by the end of the year. My rose keepsake, that everyone I come across compliments— I know that ego of yours sky rockets while in there. 
3) We would have a whole bunch of kids. It’s a beautiful and funny how the universe works, we’ve dedicated a lot of ourselves to making sure the kids got The Best of the BEST during their time with us. You were a leader, a mentor, the cool big brother, and to many the representation of a model father figure. Even to this day, it doesn’t matter what unit I step on, I overhear kids talking about their favorite memories of you (especially the roasting sessions). Knockout is still played on the basketball court of Saba. On any given day on the kid units, the #1 question that is asked is “Can we PLEASE listen to 2000s R&B?!”. People ask me why I work insane hours, it’s because I see a bit of you in everyone that you’ve worked with. 

If you’re a past patient reading this, Mr. Justin is and will always be proud all of the progress you’ve made and continue to make. I know many of y’all have moments where he took the time to process with y’all, give y’all advise, and gave you suggestions for good and healthy coping skills. Use the knowledge he gave you. I know you miss him a bunch, hold on to fun memories and laughs you shared with him. Most importantly, try to find a bit of sunshine in everyday, no matter how gloomy life may feel—y’all were his sunshine. 

If you happen to return to the good ole Ridge, there a 99.9% chance you’ll be hearing me talk about Druski and his shenanigans. I am well and I hope you all are too. -Ms MJ

I knew mr justin because I was a patient at Laurel ridge. Mr Justin was so helpful and fun to be around. When I was at my low he was there and told me things for me to better myself. May he rest in peace.

When I was a patient there at laurel ridge, Mr.Justin always knew how to put a smile on our faces when we were feeling down or overwhelmed. He was someone you could talk to about anything and would always make sure u were ok before he left. You will be missed so much but god had other plans😭🕊 R.I.P Mr. Justin🕊😭

Its hard to belive hes gone. Back when I was a patient at Laurel Ridge, he was always amazing. Everyone loved him. He was always helpful and funny. RIP

I had the pleasure of training Justin when he first started at LRTC and work with him on our unit but no matter what, Justin did it his way.  The kids loved to see and have Mr. Justin work the units.  I always asked how he was and made sure he was “being good” like a Mom checking on a son.  We were always talking sports.  The silly, matching shoes and caps (always) young man will truly be missed by many but I am glad that I had the pleasure of knowing Justin and calling him a friend.  Rest with the angels- Sara

Justin, I will miss your infectious positivity and wise cracking jokes. I'll never forget you telling it exactly how it is and holding people accountable for their words and actions, all the while leading your life in love, positivity and light. I'm so glad we got the chance to meet at Monarch, and stay in touch afterward. The world is a lesser place with you not in it. Love you big dude. So much.

I had the privilege of working with Justin at laurel ridge, he was quite the character.  Our patients loved Justin, he will be missed by not just those that worked with him, but those that he helped along the way,both patient and worker alike.  Caring and working in mental health can be difficult, but Justin did it proudly. That's how he will be remembered.

Justin will be missed and he will survive in all of the memories of the kids he helped in their toughest times. 

I remember one time one of our kids at LRTC was talking about their style and just had him change into different clothes picked out an outfit for the kid to wear and let him borrow his hat and shoes just so he could see what it would look like all together. And that kid was shining, Justin helped raise that kids self esteem in a really crap time. I know that’s a memory that kid is going to remember forever. 

And how one of our kids who wasn’t as close to others. They adored him and he was so good with them, every day they’d ask if he was working and they would light up when they saw him. He was able to make them laugh and smile. Helped them to feel okay if only for a moment. He made such a difference in so many kids and teenagers lives and because of that. He will live on forever in their hearts thoughts and memories. I wish I had a video to share to show how funny and lively he was. But he was an amazing man, who was kind and supportive to these kids. And though he was gone too soon, he did a lifetime of good in those short years. May he rest in peace and May his memory never die. 

LRTC Lavaca weekend staff 💖

Justin was endeared by many of the kids at LRTC. He was a positive influence on them and made many feel like life was bearable. He will be missed.

We’ve had several family reunions through the years. Each year we have a relay race that has nothing to do with physical abilities. It’s all fun activities. 

One of these activities that we do each year during the relay race is someone from each team (there are 3 teams and Gene’s team always cheats) has to put a cookie on their  forehead and move the cookie from their forehead to their mouth without using their hands. The only person to EVER  do this is Justin and he did it in 2 seconds. We all just store there amazed at what he had just done. 

To this day, our whole family has not been able to duplicate what he did that day. Thankfully he was on my team and his ability gave us a huge lead.

We’re going to miss you Justin. Your amazing  knowledge of everything sports related, your dedication to UT, your smile, laugh and most importantly your love for the family. 

Rest in peace buddy. I’ll see you again one day. Give my Mom and Dad a big hug for me as I know y’all are together.

I first met Justin during a troubled time in his life when he had just turned 18 years old (see picture below). Over the years Justin and I kept in touch and it was inspiring to see him transition from a kid in treatment to working with teens who could benefit from his own wisdom and experience. He even dated my sister-in-law and helped raise my step nephew, Hudson, during the first year of his life. I enjoyed visits from Justin when he would return to Utah. He had a big heart and when he was determined to do something he would go all in. I’ll miss his infectious smile and charm. My heart goes out to his family with yet another unexpected loss.

my best friend for over 4 years; i will miss you with everything i have. I love you & i made sure you knew it way before you were gone. we told eachother everything & could always count on one another. Idk how im gonna get through this without you but at least I know now, you’ll never leave my side. My biggest angel, my biggest supporter. I love you 4L til i see you again.

One of my favorite memories of Justin is when he went with Wayne and I to cut firewood at the farm. He’s wandered off and found a mud hole. He was having so much fun playing in the mud and was covered, head to toe, in mud. He was so happy and having fun!
