

LTC K.H. Malone Jr. USA (Ret) died 5 November at the age of 76 surrounded by his loving family after a long illness. He was born in Huntsville, Texas on November 14, 1935 to K.H. Sr. and Dorothy Malone. He was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the US Army Chemical Corps after graduating from Prairie View in 1956. In 1966, K. entered Graduate School at the University of Arizona, and in 1968 received a Master’s of Science in Medical Microbiology. During 24 years of service, K. distinguished himself as a Chemical Officer and in 1970 he served with distinction in Vietnam, and was awarded the Bronze Star. He retired from the US Army in 1979, and was awarded the Legion of Merit. After military retirement, K. served as Regional Director for Ecology & Environment, Inc. for 15 years.
K. was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors left to mourn include his loving and caring wife of 59 years Seccter Malone; brother Thomas and wife Freida Malone; daughter Debra West and husband Bernard sons Dr. Kay Malone III and wife Renee, Michael Malone and wife Sherry, and David Malone and wife Heather; 8 grand-children, and 2 great-grandsons, as well as many nieces, nephews, in-laws and loving family members.
Services will be held at Sunset Funeral Home on November 15, 2012 at 12:30 p.m. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow with full Military Honors at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery. The family would like to give special thanks to Vitas Hospice and Griswold Home Care.
