Kathy grew up in San Antonio and graduated from Highlands High School in 1961. Kathy met the love of her life, Jim Gerhard, in 1957 while working together at Sommer’s Drug Store. They married in 1962 and spent the next 63 years together in wedded bliss. Kathy and Jim lived in San Antonio, moved to McAllen, Texas, and then settled back in San Antonio with their two sons, David and Jeffery. Kathy had a successful career working at Southwestern Bell Telephone Company for 29 years, retiring in 2000.
Kathy was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and cherished member of her family. She lived her life with quiet strength, kindness, and a deep love for those closest to her. Her caring spirit and gentle presence will be remembered always by those who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Anna Leah Fellers and Joe Oliver Brewer, and by her beloved son, Jeffery Scott Gerhard.
Kathy is survived by her loving husband, James R. Gerhard, with whom she shared a life filled with love and devotion; her son, David Wayne Gerhard and his wife Susan, and her beloved grandchildren, Madeleine (and her fiancé Zackary), Zachary, and Elijah, who brought her great pride and joy.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 12, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, located at 9944 Leslie, San Antonio, Texas 78254. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church. Interment will be immediately after the service at Zion #2 of Helotes Cemetery.
Kathy will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her family, friends, and all whose lives she touched.
