Katheryn S. Rivera

Kathy was born in Kansas City to Kenneth & Helen Rudd on July 21, 1953. She went to school all over the world as she was a military brat. She Graduated from Southwest Texas State University with a four-year degree. She was married to Martin Rivera for 21 years and had one Son. She worked as an Office Manager/Whatever else was needed that day for Mark Gonzales D.D.S. for many years, till the practice was sold to Roger Schultz D.D.S., she stayed on till his retirement where she decided to do the same. She spent her free time in the garden and of course fostering cats up to 4 at a time. She even fostered one that required a strict diet of boiled chicken. She loved her cats. She was a strong woman that fought to the end against cancer for 11 years. She was loved and will be missed.

Kathy is preceded in death by her parents Kenneth Rudd, Helen Rudd and some celebrities like James Lovell, Flaco Jimenez, Hulk Hogan, Ozzy Osbourne and Malcom-Jamal Warner.

Kathy is survived by Charles Rivera her son and grandson Aiden Rivera. Daughter-in-law Esperance Factor. Step granddaughter Sukari Factor, Step grandson’s Nehemiah Factor and Javon Factor. Brother Kenneth Rudd, Becki Rudd, Brother Robert Rudd and Sister-in-law Donna Rudd, nieces Bethany Chance and Ashleigh Skarstedt and nephew Marcus Rudd.

Pallbearers will be Charles Rivera, Kenneth Rudd, Marcus Rudd, William McMahan, Nehemiah Factor, Javon Factor

A visitation for Katheryn will be held Tuesday, August 26, 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home, 6321 Bandera Road, San Antonio, TX 78238. A chapel service will occur Wednesday, August 27, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, 6321 Bandera Road, San Antonio, TX 78238. A committal service will occur Wednesday, August 27, 2025 from 12:30 PM to 1:00 PM at Mission Park Funeral Chapels and Cemetery Dominion, 20900 I-10, San Antonio, TX 78257.

The family of Kathy Rivera wishes to extend our sincere thanks to NEXT Oncology, the Doctors/Nurses of University Hospital, and the Lord for giving her such a fighting spirit that allowed her to see her Son married and the birth of her only Grandson and allow him to have almost 5 years of memories.
