Kathie was born August 11, 1949 in Houston, TX to William Nelson Neal and Jo Davis Neal who precede her in death.
Kathie spent most of her life in the Houston area working in the field of medical sales. She had a special knack of building relationships with doctors and nurses who appreciated her professionalism and care. Towards the end of her career, Kathie moved to Fredericksburg TX. Here she continued her love of cooking, enjoyed meeting new people, loved visiting the many wineries in the area, and learned to quilt. She stayed heavily involved in the quilting community in Fredericksburg and passed many of her handmade quilts to family and friends who will treasure them. Kathie was an aficionado of Mexican food and the margaritas that went with it. As her health declined, she returned to Sugar Land to be close to family.
Kathie was survived by her husband, Richard Dowling, of Sugar Land, her son, Richard Stelwagen and wife Kim, and her grandsons, Joseph Stelwagen and Cole Stelwagen, of Arlington, TX survive, her stepchildren John Dowling and family of Houston, TX and Diedre Dowling and family of Lufkin, TX. Kathie is also survived by aunts, uncles, and cousins throughout Texas.
Graveside services will be held at 11:15 am on July 2, 2018 at the Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery located in San Antonio, TX. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Kathie’s honor to Sunshine Kids, www.sunshinekids.org, to support children with cancer.
