

Kathleen Carroll Goodrich, age 96, died in San Antonio, Texas, on Thursday, March 29, 2012 at 8:00 P.M. Born November 27, 1915 in Price, Oklahoma, she was the second of six children born to L.O. and Lovie Carroll. Kathleen spent her childhood in Okemah, Oklahoma. After high school graduation, she attended Hills Business College in Oklahoma. During this time she developed an interest in flying and was the first woman to complete her flight training for a civilian's pilot license at Wiley Post airport in Oklahoma City. In 1941, she left for Texas to assist in War work, where she was an aircraft communicator in Ft. Worth. In 1943, Kathleen joined the American Red Cross and was sent to Italy. During that time she met and married Lt. Col. Joe B. Goodrich. They spent most of their married life in the Air Force traveling around the world until 1964, when they moved to San Antonio, Texas to retire. After her husband's death in 1970, Kathleen started her window decorating business. In 1993, she moved to Kerrville, Texas where she hosted many family gatherings. She learned to play bridge while in high school and played whenever the opportunity arose. Her other passions were sewing, cooking, golf, and entertaining family and friends. Survivors include her children, Carol Goodrich Meier of Fredericksburg, Texas, Joe Bill (Buz) Goodrich, Jr. and wife Judy of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, David Randle (Randy) Goodrich and wife Julie of San Antonio, Texas, and 7 grandchildren, & 11 great grandchildren. Also survived by her sisters Christine Harkey, Lynn Cason, brother Leonard Carroll, nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters. "For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal." 2 Corinthians 4:17-18. The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Wednesday, April 4, 2012 at Porter Loring Mortuary North.
