Kathleen Harman, cherished wife to CSM Teddy E. Harman, passed away from cancer quietly on 17 October 2020 at the age of 68 at the Brooke Army Medical Center, located at Joint Base San Antonio, Texas. Kathleen and Teddy were married for 51 wonderful years.
Kathleen lived a wonderful life, traveling around the world with her husband and children while CSM Harman served over 30 years in the U.S. Army, while on active duty. Their travels included tours from Alaska to New York, and overseas to Germany and Italy.
Kathleen was heavily involved with and helped lead many Family Support Groups for over 20 years. In this role she helped provide a network of communication between the family of service members, the chain of command, and local community resources; playing a pivotal role in these groups success. Kathleen also provided services to the Defense Finance and Accounting Center for many years. Her devotion and selfless service extended into every aspect of her life, be that in her work, her compassionate welcoming of new friends, and in caring for her family. In the words of her children:
Our mother was amazing at everything. Whatever she wanted to learn, she would - and she mastered it. She was a make-up artist, a seamstress, a chef, a quilter, a gardener, and a gamer.
Kathleen Harman was shown the appreciation of our Nation, receiving the honor of Certified Defense Financial Manager from the American Society of Military Comptrollers on November 3rd 2011. Kathleen Harman was also granted and assigned the Distinction of Distinguished Member of the United States Army Medical Department Regiment.
She was selfless and would always be a mother to all, not just to her own children. Whenever you needed her, she was there. She is greatly loved and will be deeply missed.
She is survived by our father, CSM Teddy E. Harman Sr; her daughter Christina Hogan and her husband Shaun Hogan; her son Teddy E. Harman Jr, his wife Maggie Harman, and grandson Luc; her daughter Mariah Harman; her son Matthew Harman, wife Margaret Harman, granddaughter Evangeline and grandson Hawthorne; Heather Trujillo, her husband Mike Trujillo, and granddaughters Autumn and Emery; and Adrian Hart and his wife Mare Hart.
She made every holiday special - we will feel her loss every Thanksgiving and Christmas moving forward.
With her kind and generous heart, she taught us the true value of family. For us, she was powerful.
