Kathleen Ada Hollimon

Kathleen Leizear Hollimon, age 57, died Sunday April 22nd after a courageous fight with pancreatic cancer. Born February 13, 1950, in Seattle, Washington to Willard Jackson and Mary Alicia Leffingwell Leizear, Kay was raised in Temple, Texas. After graduation from Temple High School, Kay attended the University of Texas at Austin where she met the love of her life, Peter Wilson Hollimon. Kay and Peter were married July 6, 1973, and moved to San Antonio, where she taught English at MacArthur High School while he attended medical school.

Kay was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband of 33 years, Peter Wilson Hollimon, her daughters, Mary Alicia Meecia Hollimon Little and her husband, Stephen, Margaret Courtney Hollimon and Alissa Jane Hollimon; her sister, Jane Leffingwell Leizear; her mother-in-law, Dorothy Wilson Hollimon; her brother-in-law, J. Charles Hollimon II and his wife, Nancy and their children Charles Rowe Hollimon and his wife Katherine, Reeves Lee Hollimon and his wife Halli, Ann Meredith Hollimon and Jane Elizabeth Hollimon.

She was a devoted member of Christ Episcopal Church and served on numerous boards, including the Battle of Flowers Association, the Junior League of San Antonio, the Alamo Heights School Foundation, and the PTO's of her daughters' schools.

Kay had an ever-present smile, which earned her the nickname "Colgate." Her warmth and easy laughter made everyone in her presence feel at home. She was adored by her family, an abundance of friends and many children who thought of her as a second mother.

Throughout her valiant battle with cancer, she relied upon and exemplified grace, determination, faith and always trusting in the Lord. She comforted those who sought to comfort her and knew that she could do all things through Christ who strengthened her.
