
Mrs. Kathleen Virginia Hammond Richardson was born in San Francisco, California on July 8, 1952 to the late Col, USA, ret. Henry L. and Lillian F. Hammond. She graduated from Theodore Roosevelt High School in San Antonio, TX in 1970 and attended and graduated from Southwestern University in Georgetown, TX, cum laude with a Bachelor of the Arts degree in English.
She was a member of the Alpha Delta Pi sorority.
Kathy taught language arts, reading and a variety of other subjects to both children and adults.
She was also a substitute and special education teacher. Kathy was also active in many ways in our community.
She was a member of the Officer's and Civilian's Spouses Club of Ft. Sam Houston and spent many hours producing a monthly newsletter for the group.
She volunteered regularly for the U.S. Army Medical Department Museum and was a member of many book clubs throughout her life.
She was the recipient of Ft. Sam Houston's Volunteer of the Year Award in 2004.
Kathleen passed away on January 22, 2005.
She is survived by her husband of 27 years, Dr. Thomas D. Richardson Col. USA; her son, David and daughter, Laura. She is also survived by her sister, Paula H. Jeffery, her three children, Matthew, Allison and Daniel; her stepmother, MaryJo Jody Hammond; her father-in-law, Dr. P.P. Richardson and his wife, Jane; her brother-in-law, Jim Richardson, his wife, Kay, and their three children, Sarah, Jimmy and Matthew; her sister-in-law, Mary Ann Jones; her brother-in-law, Christopher Marshall, his wife, Janet and their two children, Zachary and Haley. Kathy was a wonderful wife, mother, sister, daughter and friend. We will all miss her dedication to serving the community, her smile, her contagious laughter and the unconditional love she held for all who knew her.
