Kathleen shared a love of travel with her late husband, George, and together they went all around the world on cruises. She had a fondness for Hawaii and Hong Kong, and has great memories of a family trip to Istanbul. Kathleen was easy to talk to and had a personality which made strangers instantly comfortable in any situation. In high school, Kathleen was part of an all-girl accordion band and played the organ for her local church. Piano and dance lessons were compulsory in the Thien household to continue Kathleen’s love of music and the arts. Although always interested in arts and crafts, it wasn’t until later in life that Kathleen discovered a passion for quilting. She would spend her days at the kitchen table making quilts for family and friends.
Kathleen is preceded in death by her parents, Roman and Gertrude Pelczynski, and her loving husband of 45 years, George Thien. She is survived by her two daughters, Cynthia Jeanette Thien and Camille Sharon Thien, and her four cats, Lu Lu, Sushi, Tulip and Cleo.
The memorial service will be at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, December 29, 2018 at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel. A catered reception will follow the memorial service.
