Kathy grew up in Atlanta, Georgia with her mother. At age 11 she took her first airplane ride to Seattle to be reunited with her father and to meet her loving and excited siblings Tootie, Mike, Cindy, and Richard (and on the next trip, her youngest brother Karl).
Years later she met her future husband David at the age of 20 in an MG sedan (with 16 other people). In 1969 they married and moved to San Antonio, where David was stationed at Fort Sam. They soon bought their first home in Monte Vista, the neighborhood in which Kathy lived most of her life.
She was a loving and dedicated mother to her two sons, Chad and Fred. She regularly walked them to school in the mornings, and to church at Laurel Heights on Sundays. She made the most delicious beef stew, and her holiday loaves of banana nut bread were anticipated every year by family, friends, and neighbors.
Kathy had a long career as a legal secretary and paralegal working for many firms and organizations in San Antonio, including HEB and CPS Energy. She was a supporter of public transit; many mornings she could be found on her way to work at the bus stop at McCullough and Summit, waiting for the number 5, or at San Pedro and Mulberry for the number 4.
She was an avid reader of novels and a regular visitor at the downtown library. She also liked to play cards, tend to her plants, and feed the neighborhood kitties.
She recently became a grandmother to her first grandson Gibson, who lives in Austin. She was overjoyed at each of the many pictures she saw of him and treasured her all-too-short time spent with him.
Kathy will be remembered by friends and family as a warm, funny, kind, and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.
