

Kathleen Hill was born in Port Arthur, Texas on October 30, 1921 to John Alvin Hill and Ina Belle Pruitt Hill. She graduated Valedictorian of Port Neches-Groves High School in 1939 and from Mary Hardin-Baylor University in 1943 with highest honors and inclusion in the 1942-43 edition of Who's Who in American Colleges and Universities.
She married her childhood sweetheart, Aviation Cadet Angus O'Neal Youngblood, US Army Air Corps, November 27, 1943, who flew P-47 fighter aircraft during World War II. After the war, her husband attended Southwestern Theological Seminary, and they were blessed with the birth of two sons, Lloyd Angus Youngblood and then Jon Craig Youngblood. After the seminary, the family moved to Many, Louisiana, where her husband was the Pastor of the First Baptist Church from 1949-1953.
In 1953, Chaplain Youngblood returned to active duty in the United States Air Force. They lived in several states including Alaska, Nationalist China and Germany. She enjoyed the travel and adventure of his tours, especially camping in National Parks for 45 days from Houston, Texas pulling a boat up the Alcan Highway through the Yukon to the Strategic Air Command Eielson Air Force Base outside of Fairbanks, Alaska. Kathleen and A. O. frequently toured exotic parts of Taiwan, Nationalist China on a BSA motorcycle. She personally witnessed incoming artillery rounds on the island of Quemoy. To her father's chagrin, as a high school student she flew in a small aircraft with her husband to be.
Professionally, she was an extremely dedicated and caring elementary school teacher from 1957 to 1987, influencing and enriching many young lives. She was an active member of Trinity Baptist Church for over 40 years. She relived many times her trip to the Holy Land with Trinity Baptist Church members, including Dr. Buckner and Martha Fanning, Dr. Michael and Harriet Fanning and her son Lloyd and daughter-in-law Edwina Youngblood. She also toured Europe and the British Isles with her sons.
Kathleen was predeceased by her husband Colonel Angus O. Youngblood, her twin sister Virginia Hill Stockton and her son Jon Craig Youngblood, Partner, Vinson and Elkins, LLP, Houston, Texas.
She is survived by her son Colonel Lloyd Youngblood, M.D. US Army Ret., Director, Neurosurgical Associates of San Antonio, P. A., and daughters-in-law, Edwina Ann Eargle Youngblood and Linda Gilman Youngblood, and brother John Glenn Hill and sister-in-law Ellie. Her greatest delight were her grandchildren Jesica Caye and Jaclyn Cristine Youngblood, Lauri Ann Dahl and husband Jeffery Dahl, Dr. Kristen Adela Kocurek and partner Diane Jones, Katie Elizabeth Youngblood , Thomas Michael Kocurek, Jr, Esq., and Patrick Edwin Kocurek.; great-grandchildren, Natalie Ann, Nathan Edwin and Bergen Samuel Dahl, Chloe Elizabeth Youngblood and Colby Allen Jones.
A reception will follow the service at Trinity Baptist Church, hosted by the Lydia Sunday School Class.
