Kellie Byrd Fleming, passed away December 28, 2015, in San Antonio at the age of 77. Kellie was born in San Antonio to Leslie and Irene Byrd. She attended Incarnate Word grade school and high school and was President of the Class of 1955.
Twenty years later, she obtained a Master's degree in nursing from Incarnate Word College and went on to teach at the nursing school. Kellie later changed careers and joined her husband Bill in the commercial real estate business. She earned her broker's license initially and together they earned their CCIM designations. Kellie was a long time member of Saint Monica's Guild and was also an Associate of the Brigidine Sisters.
She had a special place in her heart for the poor and gratefully served for many years as a volunteer with the St. Vincent De Paul Society at her parish church. Kellie treasured her closest and dearest friends, who together, formed the Sacred Heart Family Guild in 1962. They have gathered in each other's homes to celebrate Mass and share a meal every month for the past 53 years. Kellie had a natural gift for cooking and delighted in lovingly preparing meals for her family and friends. She was a devoted wife, sister, mother, aunt, grandmother, and friend and was loved by many.
She was preceded in death recently by both her sister, Carole Byrd Gardner, and her son, William Collins Fleming and in 1997 by her husband William Emmett Fleming.
Kellie is survived by her daughter, Leslie Pennebaker and husband Bryan of Fort Worth; son, Scott Fleming and wife Kathy of San Antonio; daughter, Kellie Blumberg and husband Mike of Southlake; daughter, Stacey Hain and husband Buddy of Little Rock, and grandchildren Anne, Kate and Jack Pennebaker, Christopher and Casey Fleming, Ellen and Meredith Hain and Will and Mikey Blumberg.
