Kelly Marie Alvarado passed away Saturday, July 4, 2020 at NE Baptist Hospital after fighting a courageous battle with Covid 19. She was the eldest daughter of Jose and Norma Alvarado and was born on January 26, 1978. Kelly was raised in San Antonio, Texas and was a loving sister to Vanessa who was also her best friend. Kelly graduated from Alamo Heights High School, class of 1996, and became an amazing, fun loving mother to her only and beautiful daughter, Saleen Flores. Kelly had a passion for helping kids and was a longtime teacher at Sunshine Cottage School for Deaf Children.When not teaching, she enjoyed being with her family, especially her daughter and was always spontaneous especially when it came to taking road trips with her cousins. Kelly’s legacy will always be carried on through Saleen, her loving daughter and will live forever in our hearts. Her passing is preceded by her father Jose Alvarado, her grandparents Manuel and Alycia Alvarado, her aunts Anna J. Gillaspia, Yolanda Gale, Stella Duque, her uncles Richard Vitela, Frank Alvarado, Javier (Chubby) Alvarado, and Manuel Alvarado Jr. She is survived by her loving mother Norma Alvarado, daughter Saleen Flores, sister Vanessa Castillo, brother-in-law Anthony Castillo, nieces Devin Silva, Ava Castillo, nephew Jose Castillo, grandparents Lazaro and Graciela Vitela, and numerous Aunts, Uncles and Cousins.
She will be remembered at Sunset Funeral Home with visitation being held on Thursday, July 16, 2020, 4:00 pm for friends, 5:00 pm for aunts, uncles and cousins, 6:00 – 8:00 pm for family, with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 pm for the family as well. Services will be on Friday, July 17, 2020 at 11:00 am at St. Anthony de Padua Catholic Church.
