Kenya was a dedicated mother, daughter, sister, aunt, niece, cousin, co-worker, and caring friend to so many. She served her country proudly for 10 years in the United States Air Force and dedicated 17 years to civil service work through the Internal Revenue Service. Kenya was known for being a straight shooter and a protector, always putting her family before her own well-being. Kenya loved her family, she was tenacious and fearless, and she made sure no one messed with those that she loved. Her son, Isiah, was Kenya’s entire world, and her loss will definitely leave a void in that young man’s life. Kenya loved traveling, attending family events, and she thoroughly enjoyed showing off her competitiveness by playing board/card games. She was somewhat of a foodie and was always down to trying out new restaurants. Kenya also had a way of simplifying complex problems with solutions for things like rush hour traffic “if the very first car would just speed up, then we would not have this traffic jam” LMAO.
Kenya is survived by her mother Clementine Avant-Jones, father Larry Mitchell, stepfather Merrlyn Jones, brothers Miguelito Mitchell and Jon-Paul Mitchell, sister-in-law JLee Mitchell, nephews Elijah Mitchell and Roman Mitchell, and, last but not least, her beloved son Isiah Dunlap.
Closing Sentiments: In closing, I would like to end with a quote I believe embodies the bond of siblings, in particular, between a brother and sister. “Sisters and brothers just happen, we don’t get to choose them, but they become one of our most cherished relationships” - Wes Adamson.
There will be an initial memorial service held in San Antonio for immediate family, co-workers, and local friends of the family.
(Kenya would not have wanted money spent on flowers so, In Lieu of Flowers, charitable donations are welcomed).
