2020. Kevin was born in Buffalo, New York on May 13, 1953. After graduating high school, he
enlisted in the Air Force in March 1972. He was awarded an AS in Business Administration (Summa
Cum Laude) from Thomas Nelson College in 1977, then a BS in Computer Science from Penn
State University in 1979. In November 1979, he was commissioned as an Air Force Officer, 2nd
Lieutenant. He received a MS in Computer Science from Wright State University in 1985.
Kevin led a distinguished career in the Air Force, including serving in the North American
Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) in Great Falls, Montana, applying Artificial Intelligence (AI)
at the Human Resources Lab in San Antonio, Texas, and leading a team at the Wargaming Institute
in Montgomery, Alabama. In 1992, he retired as a Major after 20 years of service to his country.
After retiring from the Air Force, Kevin continued to work closely with the military as Vice President
at Galaxy Scientific and later, as President of Donald L. Mooney Enterprises (DME).
Baseball was an enduring passion of Kevin's and he played on two national champion MSBL
teams. “You’re never too old to do what you love,” he would say. He embodied that sentiment by
learning to play the guitar later in life. Kevin also fulfilled his lifelong dream of owning a house with a
pool. Some of his best days were spent at that pool, surrounded by all of his loving family and
friends.
Kevin was preceded in death by his parents, Emma Karcheske and Clarence Kline; and his siblings,
Larry Kline, Dennis Kline, Wayne Kline, and Karen Harris. He is survived by his wife, Joanne Butler
Kline; his children, Scott (Lynn) Kline, Chris (Kathy Ivey) Kline, Chalene Kline (Adrian) Jordan,
Christopher (De) Gibson, Joshua (Brandi) Gibson, and Rachel (Blake Edmonds) Gibson; his
grandchildren, Caroline Kolb, Matthew Gibson, Chloe Jordan, Zachary Gibson, Henry Kline, Macie
Jordan, Peyton Gibson, Parker Kline, Emery Jordan, Tre Lazono, Landon Lazono, Landry Jordan,
Brantlee Gibson, and Maddison Gibson; his mother-in-law, Laverne Butler; his former wife, Peggy
Rhoads Kline; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Even though Kevin leaves a hole in our hearts, we are grateful that he was able to spend his final
waking hours doing what he loved most: joking, laughing, singing, and most of all, being surrounded
by his loving family. Whether it was inviting basic trainees into his home for Thanksgiving,
mentoring through Big Brothers and Sisters, serving on the Board at leftrightstep.org, or sponsoring
a child through Africa New Life, Kevin always exhibited a generous and loving spirit. His spirit lives
on through all of our lives.
Please join family and friends for a memorial service on Monday, November 2, 2020, 12:00 p.m. at
